How to mine Verus (VRSC) on a Mac

Here's the thing most Mac mining guides won't tell you: on RandomX (Monero, Zephyr, Salvium) a Mac is only mediocre. Verus is different. Its proof-of-work, VerusHash 2.2, is built around AES — and every Apple Silicon chip has AES acceleration in hardware. So your Mac isn't just able to mine Verus; it's genuinely fast at it, doing megahashes per second where RandomX manages kilohashes.

Three steps
- Download Pasiv from pasiv.network (free; signed and notarized for macOS on Apple Silicon) and open it.
- Pick Verus and paste your VRSC address. Verus transparent addresses start with R and are 34 characters; Pasiv validates the format before you can start. No wallet yet? The Verus Desktop wallet (verus.io) makes one — Pasiv never asks for private keys or seed phrases.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my Mac good at Verus but not Monero?
Different proof-of-work. Monero's RandomX is tuned to run everywhere at similar speed, so a Mac has no special edge. Verus's VerusHash 2.2 leans on AES instructions, which Apple Silicon accelerates in hardware — so the same chip that's average at RandomX is genuinely strong at VerusHash. It's a hardware match, not a trick.
Is mining Verus profitable?
Profitability always depends on the VRSC price, network difficulty, and your electricity. What Verus gives a Mac is efficiency — far more hashes per watt than RandomX on the same machine, because the work fits the silicon. Pasiv shows your live hashrate and share count so you can judge it honestly; nothing here is a promise of income.
Does Pasiv bundle a separate Verus miner?
No. Unlike the RandomX coins (which use a vendored XMRig sidecar), Verus is mined by a native VerusHash engine inside Pasiv — nothing extra to install, nothing running as its own process.
Can I switch coins later?
