How to mine Pearl (PRL) on your GPU

Pearl is the GPU coin with the lowest bar to entry in Pasiv: its proof-of-work, pearlhash, fits on cards with as little as 3 GB of memory — half what Ravencoin or Ergo demand. If you have an older or smaller NVIDIA card sitting idle, this is usually the one it can actually mine. In Pasiv it's a one-click pick on the GPU lane, and the pool pays your own PRL address directly.
Pasiv takes no fee on Pearl. Pasiv's 4% time-sliced fee applies to Monero only; every other coin, PRL included, is fee-free. The fees that do exist are disclosed below, and neither reaches Pasiv.
Three steps
- Download Pasiv from the install page (free; Windows and Linux for GPU mining) and open it.
- Pick Pearl on the GPU lane and paste your PRL address. Pearl addresses start with prl1; Pasiv validates the format before you can start. No wallet yet? Get one only from the official Pearl Research Labs releases — see the warning below. Pasiv never asks for private keys or seed phrases.
- Press the pearl. Your card connects to the pool and starts submitting pearlhash shares; the pool pays your address directly once you pass its payout minimum. Stop any time — the GPU is yours again instantly.

Frequently asked questions
Will Pearl run on my older graphics card?
More often than the other GPU coins, yes. Pearl needs 3 GB of video memory against 6 GB for Ravencoin and Ergo, so cards those two refuse will frequently mine Pearl. The card still has to be NVIDIA and Turing generation or newer. Pasiv checks your hardware up front and simply won't offer a coin your card can't run — no dead toggles.
Is Pearl profitable on one card?
On the cards we've measured, Pearl usually gives the highest estimate of Pasiv's GPU coins — but “highest of the three” still means coffee money, not rent money, and the app shows you its live estimate before you start so you never have to take our word for it. Earnings move with price, difficulty and your electricity, and can be zero. A younger chain also carries more price risk than an established one.
Can Auto / Max-Profit mode pick Pearl for me?
No — Auto ranks the CPU's RandomX coins, where profitability is directly comparable per unit of hashrate. A GPU algorithm like pearlhash can't be ranked against RandomX on price alone, so GPU coins are a deliberate manual pick: you choose Pearl, Ravencoin, or Ergo per card, and the app shows each one's live estimate to help you decide.
Can I mine Pearl on a Mac?
No. Pearl needs the SRBMiner engine, which has no macOS build, and it targets NVIDIA hardware — so Pearl is Windows and Linux only. On Apple Silicon, Pasiv mines the CPU coins instead: Monero, Zephyr, Salvium, and Verus, which Macs are genuinely fast at.
Does Pasiv take a cut of my Pearl?
No. Pasiv's 4% fee is Monero-only and compile-time constant — you can read the code that implements it in the open core. On Pearl the only deductions are the mining engine's 2% developer fee and the pool's own fee, both third-party, both listed above.
